The GooGooFans website started in 2009 with 250 unique visitors in the first month. Now almost two and a half years later we have about 2500 unique visitors each month, 75% are coming from the US.


Articles

One of the reasons many Goo Goo Dolls fans come to our website is because over the years we've built a huge collection of articles (over 600 at this moment).

We've always respected the authors of the articles by adding a link to the original source. If an author wishes his article to be removed from our website, he can contact us and it's gone within 24 hours (much like a DMCA takedown notice). Yet after two and a half years, not a single author asked for this. In fact we've had e-mails from authors saying they have no problem with their articles on our website, just as long as we include a link to the source. We're very grateful for that.


SOPA and PIPA

Very soon the US congress and senate will vote on two anti-piracy bills: the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA) bills. If these bills get passed, virtually every website on the internet can be blocked or shut down by law enforcement officials, just because it (possibly) contains pirated content. For us this means that just one of all the articles, images, lyrics, etc. on our website can potentially result in the blocking of the entire website.

Today many websites, including Wikipedia, will shut down in protest of these anti-piracy bills. We're not blacking out our website today, but instead posting this message. For the sake of a free internet and the future of our website, please sign this petition and "Tell Congress: Please don't censor the web!"
