What?: The fifth installment of the yearly tribute to the late, great musician, poet, artist, actor and Renaissance man Mark Freeland.

When?: 9 p.m. Saturday in Nietzsche’s (248 Allen St.).

Who?: The Fems Fatale, Nick Gordon and the Hall of Fame, David Kane, Cowboys of Scotland, Pillow Queen, the Disobedient Quartet, Ed Koban, Emile Latimer, Jeff Repeater and Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls.

Why?: Freeland was the progenitor of... our city’s alternative arts and music scene. He lived his art, in a very public fashion, to the point that his life became an artwork of his own devising. Everyone who has been touched by the underground music and arts scene in our area owes the man a debt of gratitude. More importantly, celebrating Freeland’s life through music is always an awful lot of fun!
